A new dual-concept restaurant has opened in the Heights after months of anticipation.
Zagat reported earlier in June that Hernan Garcia of Houston’s 1252 Tapas will open Black & White this month. Like several other new concepts, Black & White will feature two different restaurants, according to Zagat.
Black will feature European/Mediterranean fare, while White will offer seafood with a Mexican flair, Zagat reports. The 5,000-square-foot space, at 1001 Studewood St., will seat 200 people total, including outside seating.
The location previously housed chef Bryan Caswell’s Stella Sola, a Tuscan-inspired restaurant that closed in May 2012 after two years of operation. After Stella Sola shuttered, Ronnie Killen tried to open a second location of his Killen’s Steakhouse, but that venture never came to fruition. In the summer of 2013, reports surfaced that Yucatan Taco Stand Tequila Bar & Grill would take over the location. However, those plans also were canceled.
The Stella Sola sign continued to hang outside of the space until this spring, when it was replaced with a sign for Black & White.
