Owners of the popular food truck H-town Streats have opened a brick-and-mortar storefront in the Heights, according to CultureMap and Eater Houston.

Although the truck serves up food like chicken and waffles and tacos, the new Heights store, called Hugs & Donuts, will be a specialty doughnut and kolache shop. The shop is at 1901 N. Shepherd Drive.

Owners Jason Hill and Matt Opaleski, who used Kickstarter to raise money to launch the shop, have kicked off Hugs & Donuts' soft opening period with barista practice days and freebies. Hugs & Donuts will gave out free doughnuts and coffee to customers from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. on April 3.

The official start date is expected to be April 6, according to the company's Facebook page.
