The Owl Bar Returns

The Owl Bar Returns

Having been a casualty of the Upper Kirby area’s Renaissance-of-sorts, The Owl Bar is looking to take back the night in a major way with a move to a location that features a large patio and added amenities that the previous iteration of the bar didn’t have.

“The things that we were lacking at the last bar were a patio, draft beer and food,” owner Stephen Clarke explains.

Now, the bar has all three---a full kitchen focused on your quintessential bartop fare (the Chipotle Grapefruit Owl Wings are especially intriguing), on-tap offerings from your favorite local breweries like 8th Wonder and Karbach, and a patio fully equipped and prepared to host a great night out with your closest group of friends.

Even with the fancy new digs, however, Stephen wants the new version of The Owl to remain focused on the basics. “We like to stick to the classics---a good martini, a very good margarita”, Clarke says. “We make good cocktails. I think that’s what we were kind of known for [at the last bar] ---is making kind of a true cocktail, a real cocktail. We give good pours here.”

And if you’re a sucker for the aura of performance, fret not. The Owl will also aim to feature live music acts at least weekly, and possibly even live jazz brunches on Sundays.

The general rule of thumb is that the sequel is rarely, if ever, as good as or better than the original. If you liked The Owl before, there is absolutely no doubt that you’re going to love what the new and improved revamp has to offer upon its grand opening party in just a few weeks.
